In An Emergency Dial 999 – Ask for the Coastguard
Newquay Coastguard Association
HM Coastguard team Newquay was formed in May 1982. The team are part of the MCA Coastguard Rescue Service. In February 2012, Newquay Coastguard Association was formed, the aims of the association are to provide support and assistance to serving and retired members of Newquay Coastguard Team.
This includes welfare support, funding support equipment and supporting members in need.
Our area or ‘guard’ as we call it, starts at Penhale Point (Penhale Army Camp) to Trenance Point just past Mawgan Porth. This area encompasses all the major, busy Newquay beaches such as Holywell Bay, Crantock, Fistral, Tolcarne, Porth Beach and Watergate Bay and all the coastline in between hence why we are one of the busiest Coastguard teams in Cornwall.
A dedicated, highly trained team of 14 volunteers are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. With an average 100 callouts (or ‘shouts’ as they are better known) per year, we believe we are a crucial service to the local area for residents and tourists alike who find themselves in trouble along our coastline. We only operate thanks to your donations and fundraising which are vital for welfare equipment, facilities, welfare support and training.
