Coastguard Lingo
There are many abbreviations within the Coastguard Search & Rescue Service. Here are a few for you to navigate through:
- CRO’s – Coastguard Rescue Officers
- CRT – Coastguard Rescue Team
- IRT – Initial Response Team (3 or 4 team members will go and investigate the situation and report back to Falmouth Coastguard)
- BURT – Back-Up Response Team (whole team are paged)
- SAR – Search And Rescue
- CGOC – Coastguard Operations Centres
- NMOC – National Maritime Operations Centre
- MCA – Maritime and Coastguard Agency
